    Hi to all!

Those Russian reloadable super 8 cartridges, does the camera "read" them as ASA 40 or 160 or something else?

Super 8 Sound cuts 35mm film into super 8, right? How do they make the perforation to the film? Whith what?

35mm slide film or b/w film cutted into super 8, can this film be striped and spliced with cement? = are those acetate based?
Think about all the film stocks you could use! Fuji's great slide films or infra red film or what ever u like!

Cutting 35mm film into 3 super 8mm is easy, the only problem is the perforations.

btw, what are the technical measures of s8? I remember reading from somewhere that it's not 8mm, it's something like 8,07mm??? True? And how about the perforation size and distance form the film edge?

    Thank you all!

    Mikko

    Hi Mikko,

I have 18 ?Kaccema? Russian Reloadable cartridges purchased directly from Ukraine. All these cartridges have a notch for ISO 40/25 exposure.

I agree with you about the diversity of films we could use. I plead for the launching of 200 ft reloadable casettes!!

Some months ago I?m thinking about to build a super 8 cutter from 35 mm negative/reversal film, but later I discovered in Germany a firm called Kahl Media, who cuts from 35 mm film stock (B&W /Color negative/reversal) to super 8 !!
So for me is more cheap import these films from Germany than cutting from 35 mm.
Recenty we?re finishing a shortlenght footage shooted with Kahl ISO 100 and 400 loaded in reloadable cassettes.
The wide size of Super 8 film is 7,98 mm. I have all the sizes of this format, if you need it (I was months looking for these sizes to design the cutting machine!!)

Anyway, it would be very interesting to build a Super 8 cutter!!

    Carlos.

    Carlos,

What is the name of the German company that cuts 35mm into S8 and do they have a website?

I'd love to be able to get S8 film in negative b/w. Not sure why Super8sound doesn't cut the b/w negative stocks.

    Hi HH3,
The German firm is Kahl Film & Video, i'ts Web Page is: http://www.kahlfilm.de

Super 8 Sound can cut for you B&W negative Super 8 film from 35 mm Ilford stock and others, but it's very expensive.

    Hope this helps,
    Carlos

Its a nice sight and its nice that they list the monetary conversion table. But I can't read German.

So, since they use reloadable cartridges, do you get to keep these? Or do you have to get your processing done there? or is processing included?

Conversion is pretty easy, because the Euroo and dollar are close in value.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Carlos, how did you plan to build the perforation cutter?

Well, I delegated the machine design to a specialist, but only it was an idea that didn't end up being captured in paper.

The idea it was to cut 35 mm film with a perforation and haulage system similar to a sewing machine.

    Carlos.
